Before the Frost

Before the Frost
watercolor on Indian Village, 5"x 7"
matted and backed to 8"x 10"

This describes the feel of my yard and garden yesterday as it exploded in its final fall glory. Alas, it's December now and fitting that it brought the first frost and the end to the flowers. I'm thrilled the garden lasted so long considering the effort I put in this year!

Gorgeous explosion of colour Suzanne - I'm sure your garden will be bringing you lots more joy after it's winter rest. As you reminded me, we all need to do that between times of exertion!

Beautiful blend of hues! A nice way to say goodbye to fall.

A firestorm of color. Love the way the landscape gives way to loose flowing colors. Nice!

The final fall glory is a distant memory for us. The only explosion on the agenda now is when all the snow blowers fire up in the neighbor hood.

Argg, Yuck.

Thanks, everyone! I can't believe how far between these last two paintings were (until I think of all the other work I did). Well, Doug, I really wonder how I ever lived farther north than this. I'm a surfer at heart with no interest in skiing. I'll take a shovel and a rake over a snow or leaf blower any day. Those things (along with wave runners) drive me insane.

Suzanne, I understand how the noise disrupts nature around us. I hate it too. But ... It saves my back and keeps the heart attack at bay. Us old guys need all the physical aids we can get.
