At one time, I was posting daily to 4 blogs with weekly posts to a fifth, plus writing articles for my squidoo lens. I enjoyed every bit of it (though I did stay up way too late some nights). As life and circumstances have changed, and some of my blogs have reached their natural conclusions, I've been thinking about how to continue my blogging life. My thinking has not resulted in any satisfactory solution so I've just slowed down.

At the start of my blogging, a couple of years ago, I thought it was neater to keep my sketches and drawings in one place, paintings in another, and writings on art and life in yet a third (a file clerk's approach). Now I am wanting to integrate to one blog but am still unclear whether Landscape into Art is an appropriate blog theme. I'm also wondering (as I have from time to time) whether I am restricting my work by the theme that originally was intended as a title for a series of paintings.

I'll have time to wonder more on this as I travel about Southern California over the next few weeks teaching workshops and visiting. I want to (and have been wanting to) change my blog presence and experience. After my travel break, you may begin to see changes....

(may being the operative word...)

great painting Suzanne! I am sure whatever you call your blog or blogs all will be good.
I was having problems with your blog, no comments and not being able to scroll down to the other posts. seems ok now. Hope your having a good time in CA.

Hmmm.... Sorry to hear about the blogging problems. Must have been a blogger thing. Glad to hear it's better now.

I spent a very enjoyable 20 minutes just scrolling and reading. Your paintings are lovely. Thank you for your time spent painting, blogging and sharing.

Another breath-taking landscape! I understand what you're going through with blogging - I feel the same way from time to time. I've decided to cut back and try not to feel guilty if I can't visit my friends' blogs as often as I'd like.
Have a great time traveling around California and giving workshops. I'll be interested to see how your work evolves after the break.

Hi Suzanne, am now using Opera so your blog is not kicking me out anymore! It's been great going back through your incredible work that I've missed and especially love this current one - so rich - and Spring Sails. Beautiful.

Thanks, Casey! Cutting back is good (a sign of the times!) as long as you (and I) keep at it. Your most recent post was an absolute delight.

Good to hear from you, too, Liz. Thanks (as always) for your encouraging words). I suppose that I should be concerned about problems some of you have been having with my blog but I know that it must be a blogger problem because I'm not doing anything differently.

Back to packing....

Wonderful painting, Suzanne! Love the previous one too - and I hope your thumb is better! I think some time away can be very good to gain a fresh perspective. I find that often the best ideas come when you're busy doing something else, and not consciously thinking about an issue. Even just a change of scenery and a break from one's normal routine can be very refreshing. Good luck with the workshops, have a safe and wonderful trip!

Lovely blogs. I've only been blogging five minutes, but am already wondering whether I've set off in the right direction.
My problem is gawping, open-mouthed, like some village simpleton, at all the wonderful artists' blogs, such as yours.
Then I neglect my own work. So I can't talk. Happy travels.

Thanks so much, Mineke. Let's see what the time away brings. If nothing else, a change of scenery, weather, visits with old friends and some good teaching work. All good things.

Welcome to the blogosphere, Beetle. Not to worry, you'll find your footing (and your voice) soon enough. Darling sketches. I like 'em!

Suzanne,

I love to blog but don't like the time it takes up, but what I am satisfied with is having one art blog and one polymer clay blog. I decided my art blog would be about whatever I am doing art-wise. I call it "My Art Life" so the door is open to a variety of things.

I just figure my blog reflects who I am, and I can't worry about it if I post entries that don't exactly match up to one another. For example, most of my recent entries are watercolor because that is what I am most passionate about. But I might do a blog entry called "A Look Back" and post something I did many years ago. Or do an entry about a painting workshop I just did. Sometimes I just post art and don't have much to say about it, and other times I add quite a bit of musings about it.

Thanks for the input, Caren. All good points!

Your direction is great, as is this painting. I love that it's all a journey. We'll enjoy it with art and by sharing however it works out. Enjoy traveling and teaching.
